IEEAC staff are employed in a range of
professional and administrative positions:
- Research
Officer (works on a range of projects and assists with the design,
construction, trialling, analysis and evaluation of assessments)
- Desktop
Publisher (provides DTP assistance for a range of
IEEAC publishing and graphic design requirements)
- Computer
programmer (provides programming assistance and systems administration
for a range of IEEAC testing programs)

Warehouse assistant (supports the Distribution Supervisor in packing,
despatch and stock control activities)
- Accounts
Administrative Assistant (supports the activities of
IEEAC’s accounts department).

Casual positions
Due to the
seasonal nature of some IEEAC activities, and
the varying requirements of Government tenders secured, the
Committee regularly engages staff on
short-term contracts. Casual staff are employed in the following
categories:
Research and Assessment
- Item
writers - advertisements are placed in the IEERA
Website on an annual basis requesting expressions of interest
in item writing training workshops (see below)
- Markers
(including supervisors) - advertisements are placed in
the IEERA Website annually or as required,
requesting expressions of interest in marking.
Operations
-
Publications staff (graphic designers, DTP operators) - a register of
people available for casual contracts is developed through advertising
on the internet, qualified by an interview and the submission of work
samples. Work is allocated to staff on the register by the
Publications Manager
- Data
entry staff - data entry and other clerical casual staff are engaged
by the Data Capture Supervisor in consultation with the Operations
Coordinator

Warehouse & distribution assistants - warehouse and distribution staff
are engaged by the Warehouse Supervisor in consultation with the
Operations Controller to agreed selection criteria.
Staff are
recruited through various recruitment agencies that specialise in casual
data entry, clerical staff and warehouse staff, but may be recruited
through annual advertising (eg item writers) under the management of the
Operations Controller.
Training Workshops for Item Writers
Item
writers are required to attend a training workshop, producing test
questions that will be considered for use within the
International English Competitions ,
Placement Tests and possibly Government
Projects. After training, item writers can submit items throughout the
year.
Item
Writing workshops are normally held during school holidays. Information
about the workshops is distributed before the end of the first school
term.
